Rebekah Ekberg, MA, MFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) with specialized experience and training working with trauma, working with elders and children, Process Oriented Psychology, and using the Expressive Arts as part of the therapeutic process. I am Tri-lingual, speaking Spanish and French, and am Bi-cultural Cuban-American. I’m a musician by training, with additional experience in using movement, visual arts, crafts, and drama therapy in my therapy work. I try to orient toward my client’s needs, and direct their treatment as such. I also have training in EMDR, a modality that is often used for people who have experienced trauma.

I hold a Master’s degree from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now known as Sofia University), with a specialization in Creative Expression (Expressive Arts Therapy), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from University of California, Berkeley. I have also studied movement disciplines in Dance, Continuum, Authentic Movement, and Martial Arts, and continue to engage in my chosen art of music.

I have an active and engaged therapeutic style, and strive to maintain authenticity in relationships with my clients and demonstrate empathy. I encourage use of Mindfulness as a tool to assist in better tolerating current symptoms, as well as promoting personal growth and understanding. I take a strength-based, solution-focused approach in order to empower my clients to overcome their current challenges, and to achieve higher levels of functioning and growth. I believe in the inherent wholeness of each individual and in their capacity to recover and thrive.

Let’s work together toward your healing!
